About This Project:

Objective:This was meant to be a guest retreat. The owner wanted the space to be Feng Shui certified. A Zen garden was the inspiration
Challenges:This was originally 2 bedrooms, which I opened up and installed shoji screens. As there was another bath adjacent to the sitting area, that door was kept closed and ignored. The room was high enough that no window coverings were need. However I designed "eyebrow" valances as decor strengtheners, and to soften the window corners.
Results:The color palette was taken from the live oak trees outside the windows. Soft green similar to the underside of the leaves, a dusty soft amber much like the dried leaves, and golds, browns, and deeper greens. A Coach Leather bench gives room definition when the shoji screens are open. Clean tailored contemporary pieces add to the calming effect. A stunning "Aqua Designs" torchiere adds a wonderful organic feel, (not shown), as does a Tavalo penshell chest and mirror (not shown) Pics of the chest and lamp are available as tear sheets.
