About This Project:
| Objective: | The client wished to update a 1200 sf loft in the city. The intention was an open, informal space, interdependent and intimate. Leisure, work and play intertwined with urban living while maintaining a private retreat in the city. | | Challenges: | Remove old plumbing fixtures and replace with streamlined, contemporary ones
Renovate the bath surfaces and fixtures
Create a unified custom unit to store entertainment components
Define a conversational grouping with rich textures and a neutral color palette
Update the counter and backsplash in the kitchen
Remove the red paint; resurface the concrete floor
Provide a sense of intimacy to the large open window view
Organize the office/work area for work, storage
| | Results: | A copper basin installed atop the new limestone vanity with tall faucet is a focal point for the bath
Limestone material is applied to the floor surface of the bath and the counter of the kitchen
A subtle paint scheme unifies the open area
Large structural columns are painted in a manner to suggest aged surfaces
Stainless steel tiles are integrated into the backsplash , creating eye appeal and unifying the stainless appliiances and bistro table
A custom insert of espresso stained maple places the entertainment units cohesively
Wool, chenille, suede and red silk add a luxurious blend of textures to the conversational seating anchored by an red, Tibetan rug
A loose window covering moves easily over the large window to bridge the view and create intimacy
The office work area combines three five-foot maple tables and an antique teak British colonial armoire for storage of reference and work material.
