How do you really step back?
Topic: Ava's Mixed Bag

Last week I asked you “Is it time to step back?”  Does your business feel like it’s just not flowing as well as it could be, either with clients or in your processes?   If you responded yes, you may now be thinking what next.  How do I really step back and make the most of that time away from my business?  It’s one thing to set aside the time to get back on track but if you don’t have a plan to follow for that time, it may end up not being as productive as it could be.

Well this week, I’m going to give you a roadmap that will guide you through how to use that time away to your best advantage.  You might be surprised where this roadmap takes you because the process is not what you would expect but I assure you, it will add clarity to your bigger vision of yourself and your company and help you establish the path to get there.  I recently did this exercise and it was transforming for me on many levels.

It doesn’t involve a lot of steps or procedures to follow.  It simply starts with asking yourself some very basic questions that get to the heart of what you do, why you do it and knowing where you ultimately want to be.  That’s really what running your business is all about.  It’s not about the paperwork, the phone calls, the appointments, the follow ups – it’s about connecting with that deeper purpose your sense inside of yourself and acknowledging that as you move forward in your business.  Letting go of that need to control and have all the answers first is half the battle but once you can do that and trust in your purpose the rest will come and I assure you, your business will soar!

The first question is “What is the most delicious life you can think of?”  What does that look like to you?  Where are you?  What are you doing?  Who are you interacting with?  What are you wearing?  What are you talking about?  You have total control in creating a vision that really inspires you.  What is that vision?  Get quiet and really get clear on that picture of what that ideal life looks like to you.  God planted that vision within you with the intention to give you something that would inspire you and guide you along your journey.  It is not a dream – it is your reality waiting to happen.  Your desire truly is God’s divine plan for your life.

The second question is “What would you need to personally let go of to start creating that vision?”  Are there habits you have that are standing in the way of your progress?  Are there relationships that you need to let go of?  Are there certain behaviors or actions that you are currently doing in your business as well as your personal life that are sabotaging your forward movement?  Do you overthink, overanalyze and hide behind your fears?  Are you trying to do it all alone and be the expert in everything or are you seeking out additional resources to help get you to that next level?  Know that God created us to need and lean on each other so if you think you can do it alone, you got it all wrong.  Understanding what stands in our way is so critical to our growth both personally and professionally.  Really take the time to understand what you are doing now that is impeding your growth.

The third question is “What would you need to physically change in your life now to be where you want to be?”  Are you trying to balance being a mom, wife and owning a business and not seeking help to bring that balance to your life?  Are you taking care of yourself, eating right, working out, getting enough sleep?  Are you dressing for success?  Are your reading books and listening to people who inspire you and ignite that creative energy inside of you?  What do you physically need to change to be that person in your vision? I’ve said it before; we need to start making decisions and taking action from where we want to be versus where we are right now.  This is probably one of the most important things you can do to start seeing that forward progress.  There is a certain energy that comes where you make decisions from a place that is where you want to be.  You start thinking from that place and taking action from that place and the result of that alone starts moving you towards that place.  You are less likely to play small and more likely to step into your greatness.  The fear will be there but when you have a clear vision of that delicious life that awaits us all, stepping through that fear becomes easier each and every time we do it.

If you just spend some time truly embracing these three questions and getting clear on the answers, you will have the roadmap you need to start moving forward towards realizing that dream.  The time you spend stepping away from your business is so much more than reviewing financials and workflows.  It’s about getting clear on where your mindset is now and where it needs to be to achieve all that you want to be.  Simply raising your awareness around your answers to these questions will have a tremendous impact on your business going forward.  All the answers truly lie within so take the time to get quiet, not just a few minutes but a few days and really embrace and connect with that voice inside that will lead you towards achieving so much more than you ever dreamed of!

Action Steps

The action steps for this week are pretty much already spelled out above.  Your next action is to now just do it!  I urge you to set aside the time to answer these three questions.  Pick a question a day and really think about it and create your life and business around your answers.  I’ll talk more next week on some other things to think about during your business “sabbatical”.  Really use this time to connect with the greatness that lies within you.  Once you do, you will have that flow and sense of purpose in all that you do.
