Lisa Erdman’s Master Sitting Room for the 2009 American Red Cross Designer Show House

Lisa Erdmann and her design team at Lisa Erdmann & Associates expertly blend the need for ecologically sound materials with high design to create a sophisticated yet inviting room for the 2009 American Red Cross Designer Show House.

“It is extremely important for the design and architectural professions to embrace eco-friendly, sustainable materials,” observes Lisa Erdmann, adding, “and that doesn’t mean you are limited to a specific design style; with a creative eye, the possibilities are endless.”

Using a fresh palette of light greens and blues, Erdmann furnished the light filled Master Sitting Room with a variety of English antiques including a unique 19th century English curved wood settee and a beautiful Rosewood Campaign trunk circa 1880’s. To add a modern twist, she used renewable cork flooring.

The custom-mixed wall paint is from Benjamin Moore’s new Aura line, a product certified under the Greenguard Standard for low-emitting products. Erdman selected all natural fabrics in cotton and linen, while the blinds and Pierce Martin console are made from the most renewable resource of all – bamboo.

Finishing touches include a collection of antique Milk Glass and old world Majolica plates and platter in an asparagus pattern, which are counterbalanced by nickel finished hurricanes and antique English silver trays and accessories.

To compliment the sophisticated collection of art and antiques, Erdmann’s team created a custom millwork ceiling treatment featuring a blend of simple yet bold painted moldings and sand colored cotton upholstery offset by dark nail head detailing.

The American Red Cross Show House is at the Providencia House, a historic 1936 luxury home at 1125 North Flagler Drive in the heart of West Palm Beach’s Providencia Park neighborhood. General admission tickets to the Show House are $30. Special pricing is available for groups of ten or more. The Show House is open through February 14th Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter.
