Designing home interiors is a process of discovery; each decision leads closer to defining the life going on inside, where it is right now and where that life is headed. The elements brought into the home represent the experiences had and those still desired. The artwork is not just filling space but is inspiration for everyday. The way furnishings are arranged indicates an invitation to others or a preference to enjoy solitude. Signature style at home can be read much like a signature on a piece of paper. Someone who doesn’t know the person living inside can learn a lot by looking around at the choices made. Those that do know that person and pay attention will learn more and know how to contribute at this point. Reading a well designed interior is much like reading a biography of the person(s) living there. Take a look at the images here and see what you can read about the lives going on inside.
Welcome Home . . .
Welcoming the weary traveler, whether from near or far, this entry offers not only a warm reception but a place to store all weather gear in the sideboard, along with matches, flashlights, keys and other necessary household safety bits. The rich natural cherry complements the sage green of the walls wrapping the visitor in a friendly invitation to stay awhile. Ample space for any armload of goodies, a purse, mail or more is at the ready. Too often, foyers are designed for effect and not for function. This has both.
Room to Catch Up . . .
Ready to relax at the end of a day on the lake or a round of golf on the nearby links, the stack stone fireplace beckons. Cooler weather will demand a crackling fire while warmer temperatures invite greenery or subtle candles. A mix of textures, from sleek leather to nubby chenille create a family and entertaining friendly spot to hang out and catch up, swap stories, and play games. Great rooms need to be flexible spaces accommodating a range of activities and people, casual comfort is the theme here.
Food for Thought . . .
For an easy breakfast on the way out to a day of boating, hiking, or staying in with a good book or a movie, nothing beats a breakfast bar and a simple kitchen layout. The geometry present streamlines functionality while the natural cherry provides continuity throughout the house. Granite befits the rustic feel and balances the wood hues. Cooking up a romantic dinner for two, dinner for a family of five, or a buffet for twenty is equally easy and delicious.
Entertaining with Ease . . .
Setting a table is about creating an experience to connect, share, and grow. It is an opportunity for culinary explorations and gourmet adventures! This dining room is drenched in a deep cabernet hue, dressed with art glass lighting, and offers guests and family a relaxed beginning to an evening filled with laughter, tall tales, and dreams to accomplish. A colorful stripe adorns the chairs, leaf patterned drapery frames the view at the window, light dances along the walls and across the vaulted ceiling. This is about more than just a meal; it is about the intersection and cross-section of lives being shared.
Awake Refreshed . . .
An ideal bedroom is one that provides a respite from the daily grind or a hectic schedule even one filled with play. It is designed to provide a haven, a tranquil escape, and a chance to refresh, recharge, and re-energize. This bedroom has a quiet sturdiness in its rustic mood. Well proportioned timbered furnishings enhanced by loden green velvet bedding provide a serene setting with just a touch of romance. Ample dresser and night chest storage is decked with art glass lamps giving an unexpected grace. It is easy to imagine a good night’s sleep, awaking refreshed for the day ahead.
